So, as a sometimes normal, red blooded American girl I have always been a fan of Diane Von Furstenburg both the designer and the brand. Its a classic, of course. The last few years I think we all felt the slump (no judgment, it happens to the best of us). BUT, thanks to Furstenburg's genius idea to bring Jonathan Saunders in as her Chief Creative Officer. After running his own line for years and years, and becoming known for his use of prints and structure, he was the perfect fit to revamp the brand.
I caught up with Saunders at a fashion show at Saks Fifth Avenue in Houston, where we was previewing his spring collection. After Diane herself invited him over and "many martinis" later, Saunders was offered the role to take DVF to the next level. I am so excited about this guy. He has such a great perspective on not relishing in the past but also taking pieces of the classic brand and giving it an actual modern twist. The wrap dress will always be a thing, but creating other styles of dresses with the same throw it on for any occasion and feel sexy and svelte attitude that we all need so much.
I left Saks that day with a new DVF dress and a smile on my face.
